RoboCop Wiki
BabyMaid

Baby Maid was a brand of baby food.

History[]

Because baby food was said to have been similar to the rudimentary paste developed to sustain RoboCop's organic systems, Anne Lewis brought several jars of Baby Maid brand when she hid with him at the steel mill after the SWAT team followed orders to destroy RoboCop. Rather than eat them, RoboCop chose to use them as target practice, before Clarence Boddicker and the remainder of his gang arrived.[1]

After Baby Maid was adopted as RoboCop's main source of sustenance, the brand made a request addressed to Max Becker, for Robo to be the new face of the product.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

On the commentary track of the DVD, Paul Verhoeven explains the significance of RoboCop shooting jars of baby food. When RoboCop examines the baby face on the jar, then looks back at Lewis, he is "looking at what he cannot get anymore." After this he cocks his gun, walks off frame and fires a shot, indicating a "slight suggestion of suicide." He is then revealed to firing on the jars, which is explained as simply meaning "no babies."
