The CEO was the successor to the former chief executive officer of Omni Consumer Products, better known as the "Old Man".
While he seemed a competent businessman, he was a blowhard at best and considerably more temperamental than his immediate predecessor. However, he did seem to have the sense to know when he was beaten.
Biography[]
After the Old Man's death using RoboCop 2's body, OCP abruptly went bankrupt and its headquarters collapsed, the CEO took control of the company, ensuring that the destruction of its headquarters would not prevent the completion of Delta City.[1] He held this position by the time OCP was acquired by the Kanemitsu Corporation.[2]
Having difficulty clearing the Detroit area for Delta City, the Rehabs, along with their commander, Paul McDaggett, would begin removing people from their homes and a resistance group formed against the OCP. The furious Kanemitsu who berated the OCP VIPs on-screen for their failure sent an android, Otomo to have a meeting with the CEO regarding the issue about Robocop aiding the resistance. After that, the CEO fired Fleck for disrupting his conversation with the android and asking Johnson for suggestions in acquiring aditional troops for their cause.[2]
Later, the CEO was threatened by McDaggett. Upon realizing that his forces were killing police officers, RoboCop arrived at the headquarters prepared to confront McDaggett, his team and two Otomos. The CEO left the headquarters, which minutes later was destroyed. He arrived at Cadillac Heights with Kanemitsu to propose new ideas, but was fired by Kanemitsu himself.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
The role of the CEO was originally written for Dan O'Herlihy reprising his role as the Old Man. However, O'Herlihy declined after reading the script.
In the comic book adaptation, the CEO is identified as Bob Morton's father. Director Fred Dekker wished to cast José Ferrer – the father of Morton's actor Miguel Ferrer – in the role, but was prevented by Ferrer's failing health.[3]
