Frank Uno was a member of Hard Company, an elite military squad active during the Amazon War.
Biography[]
Growing up, Uno was raised by foster parents and was good friends with Alex Murphy. He was a fan of the cartoon Combat Bill.[1]
During the Amazon War, Uno served with Hard Company. After their involvement with Big Sword – a biochemical project that developed a chemical that killed people, but not plants – Uno and the other surviving members were returned to the United States to be institutionalized and drugged in an effort to keep them silenced on Bog Sword. They were eventually freed by Colonel Albert Brox and Dr. Rimmer, who continued providing Hard Company with inhibiting drugs, which caused Uno to take on the persona of Combat Bill.[1]
In Brox and Rimmer's plot to steal Omnium from OCP, Hard Company were ordered to rob an Omni Militech warehouse. From there, Uno helped steal a plasma cannon, which he used to disable RoboCop.[1]
After fellow Hard Company member Lyle Vance died, Uno became upset with Brox's apparent indifference toward the event. Brox acknowledged this, but insisted that more of them would die if they did not continue their activities.[1]
Hard Company took over OCP Public Works, where RoboCop soon arrived to defuse the situation. As Frank prepared to fire an explosive at him, another member of the company pushed the gun down to save the Omnium, causing Uno to shoot the ground, causing himself and RoboCop to fall to a lower floor. As the drugs wore off and RoboCop insisted upon Frank's true identity, Uno explained the history of Hard Company and Big Sword. He then renounced his trust in Brox and Rimmer after they promptly killed and disposed of Adam Rakshi. On their way to confront Brox and Rimmer, Frank learned that RoboCop was actually his childhood friend, Alex Murphy.[1]
Uno helped Murphy to defeat Brox and Rimmer, but soon collapsed. As he succumbed to his wounds, he asked Murphy to deliver a message to his parents, but died before he could specify what to tell them.[1]
