Mayor Fred Friendly served as mayor of Detroit some time after the completed construction of Delta City.

Biography[]

When people feared that the Dogtown Ripper was stalking the homeless people of the city, Mayor Friendly was quick to place blame for the disappearances on the indigent lifestyles of the people involved.[1]

Fred Friendly was suspected of corruption and RoboCop captured footage of him accepting money from Vlad "Stitch" Molotov, local head of the Russian Mafia. After being shown the video by RoboCop, Lisa Madigan, and Stanley Parks, he refused to comment. He exited the precinct and boarded a limo with Stitch, assuring "Stitch" that there was nothing to worry about. At that time there were protests against RoboCop taking place by the Reverend Robert Taker and the mayor assumed that they would be sufficient to distract the police enough to leave the two alone.[2]

Friendly later appeared on the Takers' television program alongside a man who claimed to have been brutalized by RoboCop and was suing the police for $300 million. Friendly promised a full investigation into the incident, much to the praise of the Takers and their followers.[2]

At a hearing held for RoboCop concerning the murder of Robert Taker, based on the evidence against the cyborg policeman, Friendly ordered a full internal affairs investigation alongside RoboCop's shutdown pending the results. RoboCop then feigned taking Madigan hostage so the two could escape together.[2]

When Reverend Taker was murdered, Friendly was carrying on an affair with Bambi Taker. Detective Madigan suspected the mayor may be in some way involved. She questioned him with the use of a Vee-Ess Analyzer and found that he had an alibi when Bambi admitted that he was with her at the time of her husband's murder.[2]
