"Illusions" is the fourteenth episode of RoboCop: The Series.
Plot[]
At the Amazonia Nut Company, men unload a truck carrying numerous crates of weapons, which are transferred to crates of peanuts. RoboCop, being inside one of these crates, interrupts as Sergeant Stanley Parks arrives with backup outside. They successfully place all of the men in custody. The mens' boss Reggie Braga suspects the group's lookout of being a police informant, so has him thrown off a roof. On Mediabreak, Braga denies knowledge of the weapons.
RoboCop, Parks, and Detective Madigan examine footage of Braga recorded from a v-phone, given to RoboCop by a source he declines to name. In the footage, a man called The Magician suddenly appears and suggests they make a statement in response to OCP's unveiling of the Interceptor Mark II, the next generation of police cars. He has hired mercenaries Schmidt and Wilson to help carry out their plans. Believing their plan to be the assassination of the Chairman, the three set out to gain evidence on Braga and the Magician's plans, as the v-phone footage in inadmissible.
Madigan goes to Rabbit's Hat Magic Shop, where she meets Adam Roland, who entertains a group of children with magic tricks and flirts with Madigan. He guides her through the shop until she notices a poster of Milo the Magnificent on the wall of the store, which features Milo in the same costume as The Magician.
The Vice President of OCP Security Concepts Edward Foster introduces his secretary Tish Collier to the Chairman, who does not pay them mind as Parks warns him about the assassination plot and suggests he not appear at the Interceptor II launch. Foster offers to let Security Concepts take action, but the Chairman prefers to let the Detroit Police Department deal with the situation. Parks shows the Chairman the v-phone video.
Schmidt and Wilson go to a motel room, where they find their weapons left for them by The Magician and make their plans for the assassination.
After being tipped off by his source, RoboCop brings in two men to be charged with possession of illegal firearms. Madigan reports to Parks that she has little information on Schmidt and Wilson, other than being linked to a dozen contract hits. She tells Parks of the poster she found at Rabbit's Hat, but says that Milo the Magnificent died in a plane crash sixteen years ago, so could not be The Magician. Adam Roland enters, providing Madigan with Milo's cape. Left alone by Parks – but with the other officers watching curiously – Madigan and Adam plan a dinner date.
Braga's crony Joey ensures him that the vault with their supplies is secure, but RoboCop shoots through the floor, making Joey fall to the ground in front of him.
At dinner, Adam tells Madigan about Milo's son Jamie Silvera, who he regarded as "strange" but died in the same crash as his father. They end their date with a kiss and Madigan goes back to work.
Foster shows Tish around Metro South, starting with RoboCop, with Charlie Lippencott explaining his specs. Madigan returns and tells Parks what she learned. Parks is suspicious about Adam and shows her a newspaper article about the plane crash, which says that Jamie's body was not found in the wreckage. She takes this info to Adam and plans to find Jamie. He warns her to be careful and they share another kiss before she leaves.
At the Interceptor Mark II unveiling, Schmidt and Wilson introduces themselves to Foster as employees of SecuroTech, supplier of the Interceptor's audio detection unit. Tish catches Foster staring at Wilson and grows suspicious of the pair, having not heard of SecuroTech. She reports her suspicions to Madigan as the assassins prepare to enact their plans. Schmidt takes aim at the Chairman as RoboCop stands guard. Madigan finds Wilson and fights her as she manages to shut off the lights. RoboCop blocks Schmidt's view and targets him, knocking him off his sniper's perch. Madigan subdues Wilson and restores the lights while Schmidt is arrested.
Schmidt and Wilson have no information on the Magician, who Madigan believes will make his move. She analyzes a childhood photo of Jamie Silvera. She goes to the Rabbit's Hat, where she is met by Adam dressed as the Magician, learning that the mask is outfitted with a voice changer. She shows him the image of Jamie, having found the lack of an Adam's apple child's throat.
The next day, the Interceptor II is to be field-tested, with RoboCop at the wheel. While RoboCop gets into the Interceptor and warms it up, Foster gives Tish a kiss, distracting her. The Interceptor rolls out and makes its way around the track until it blows up; supposedly with RoboCop inside.
Braga leads a celebration of RoboCop's apparent death and pays the Magician: Tish Collier. RoboCop – alive and well – interrupts alongside Madigan and Parks, rounding up everyone in attendance. Madigan reveals that, in addition to being the Magician, Tish is Jamie Silvera. When asked how he survived the explosion, RoboCop reveals that he activated the Interceptor's auto-pilot and escaped through a hatch in the ramp, all done while Foster kissed her. She suddenly disappears, but Madigan finds her in a nearby crate to be apprehended. Foster arrives, upset that he was not part of the raid.
