"Mother's Day" is the eighteenth episode of RoboCop: The Series.

Plot[]

Vladimir Molotov shows off his Spyguard device to his men. The Spyguard scrambles electronic surveillance for up to a hundred yards, causing him to appear distorted on devices such as his henchman Rad's camera. At a shipyard, they purchase a shipment of beluga caviar smuggled from Russia. However, this happens to be a sting operation led by Sergeant Stanley Parks, who poses as the dealer for the shipment. Detective Lisa Madigan notices the Spyguard, telling Parks that the footage they have captured of Molotov making the deal is now useless as evidence. Molotov's driver, Nadia, unleashed a grenade launcher, causing everyone to scramble. As Molotov reaches his car, RoboCop arrives. He commands Nadia to run over the cyborg, who anchors himself to the ground, causing the car to wrap around him, allowing him to arrest Molotov.

Since Parks is planning to testify against him, Molotov makes a plan to target Parks, but without killing him, since Molotov would be an obvious suspect. He has his men go after Gadget, knowing that this would be a weak point for Parks.

Gadget and Jimmy go to the Omni Mall, where Gadget complains about Mother's Day, as it reminds her of her biological mother who gave her up at three weeks old. Jimmy tells Gadget he will help her find her mother. As Jimmy goes to buy perfume for Nancy, Gadget is left alone and approached by Molotov's goons. They try to make her go with them, but she kicks one in the shin and runs. As they chase her, Jimmy follows and tackles one of the men as he grabs Gadget. The men manages to grab both of them, but RoboCop arrives just in time, arresting the men and rescuing the children. Upon being returned to Metro South, Gadget is told by Parks that she is no longer allowed to go anywhere unaccompanied by himself or another officer.

Molotov recruits Pudface Morgan's goons Leo and Shorty, needing outsiders to join him, as his current hires are being surveilled. He has them accompany Nadia, telling her to kill them if they screw up.

Gadget and Jimmy search the Family Services database, finding Gadget's file to be classified. Jimmy uses a security buster program he bought from school to decode the file, learning that her mother is Sally Modesto. They are unable to access anything else, but they sneak out to go to Family Services as Nadia, Leo, and Shorty follow. At Family Services, Gadget and Jimmy are informed by employee Mr. L-M that in order to find Sally, an application to permanently reunite with her would have to be filed. Outside, the police find the children, having found them through a tagger Parks placed in Gadget's pocket. Jimmy tells Parks to put the blame on him instead of Gadget and is taken home by RoboCop as Gadget is returned to Metro South. Leo and Shorty go into Family Services to find out what the children were up to.

Parks and Gadget fight, resulting in her calling Mr. L-M. She learns from him that a permanent reunion application could be filed without Parks' approval, so she asks to have one filed. L-M agrees to do so, however his responses are all due to Leo and Shorty forcing him to. They demand the file on Gadget and her mother.

Phyllis Leachman from Family Services arrives at Metro South to retrieve Gadget. Parks is dumbfounded by Gadget filing the request to reunite with her mother, who is on her way to the precinct. Parks talks to Gadget alone about the situation to confirm whether leaving his care for her mother's is what she really wants. He ultimately leaves the decision up to her.

With RoboCop and Charlie, Gadget weighs her options, with RoboCop advising that she follow her heart and Charlie declining to get involved with someone else's family problems. Sally Modesto arrives and is reunited with Gadget, whose birth name is learned to be Gertrude. When Sally says she regretted giving Gadget up for adoption and tried to find her, RoboCop determined this to be a sixty percent chance of being the truth. As Gadget shows Sally around the precinct, Phyllis tells Parks that Sally applied for legal custody, which would be approved within twenty-four hours if Gadget agrees to live with her. Parks potentially losing Gadget reminds RoboCop of losing his own family.

Sally takes Gadget and Jimmy to her home, followed by RoboCop, who Sally is suspicious of. As the children look around Gadget's room, Sally goes down to the kitchen, where she calls Molotov, her adoption of Gadget being part of the plot against Parks. She warns Molotov that RoboCop is following them, so he tells her to get rid of the cyborg.

At Metro South, Gadget prepares to leave, taking a photo of them with her and tearfully embracing him. He helps brush her hair and leaves the brush on his desk before sending her along to Sally, noting the mother and daughter's resemblance to each other, down to their hair. He watches as they leave before retreating to his office, having managed to take strands of hair from Sally.

RoboCop goes to Family Services to question Mr. L-M, who tells him that he was forced to change Sally's personal history file and hid the real one.

As Gadget unpacks, Sally gets a call from Molotov as Leo and Shorty arrive to keep watch on them, something that was not part of her deal with Molotov. Sally tries to escape with Gadget out the back, but are greeted by Nadia. They are forced to be taken to a warehouse, where they are kept in captivity. Gadget figures that Sally has been lying to her, including being her mother.

Madigan shows Parks Sally's real file, which shows that she is a known associate of Molotov's, having been involved in narcotics, gambling, and fraud. Molotov makes a call to Parks, demanding that in exchange for Gadget, Parks must not testify against Molotov. Madigan forwards to RoboCop a recording of the call and he asks Diana for her help.

Molotov goes to Gadget and Sally, telling his men to make sure they remain in captivity until after the trial. Sally admits to working with Molotov, having only agreed to this scheme because she was promised nobody would be hurt. She assures Gadget that her real mother would be proud of her and promises to get her out.

RoboCop shoots into the warehouse, where Molotov repeatedly runs a forklift into RoboCop. Nadia goes to the prisoners, but is caught in a trap set by Sally. RoboCop is knocked into Molotov's car outfitted with a grenade launcher, which he uses to blast the forklift, sending Molotov flying into his stack of contraband caviar.

Molotov and his goons are rounded up as Parks arrives to the scene, relieved to find Gadget safe. She runs into his arms, saying she will never leave him again. Gadget assures Parks that Sally is not bad, so he offers to speak to the district attorney on her behalf. As RoboCop takes Gadget to the cruiser, Parks shows Sally the results of a DNA tests he performed with Gadget and Sally's hair, determining that she is indeed Gadget's biological mother. Sally asks him not to tell Gadget, feeling it to be for her own good. Sally says goodbye to Gadget and joins the other perpetrators.
