RoboCop is a run and gun game developed by Data East and released in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The game is based on the first RoboCop movie.
Overview[]
RoboCop is a run and gun game focused on combat and exploration. The two buttons on the controller are used for punching and shooting respectively; RoboCop is unable to jump, being able to move left and right and climb up stairs. Levels are maze-like, requiring the player to investigate multiple rooms as well as finding breakable walls. RoboCop has a sensor which will alert the player of breakable walls nearby.
In some of the areas of the game RoboCop is forbid from drawing his gun, having to rely on punches to defeat enemies, while on dark rooms an infrared sensor will point where enemies are hiding. In addition to RoboCop's Auto 9 the player can also find Machine Guns and the Cobra Rifle as pickups.
