Sally Modesto was a criminal associate of Vladimir Molotov and the biological mother of Gadget.
Biography[]
With Molotov, Modesto was involved in various crimes, including those pertaining to narcotics, gambling, and fraud. Three weeks after giving birth to a girl she named Gertrude, she gave her to Family Services for adoption, where the girl was renamed Gadget.[1]
Nine years later, after discovering Modesto was Gadget's mother, he recruited her to gain custody of her daughter. This was part of a plan to convince Sergeant Stanley Parks, Gadget's adoptive father, to not testify against Molotov in an upcoming trial.[1]
Upon reuniting with her daughter, Sally claimed that after a couple of years, she regretted giving up her baby for adoption and searched for her, to no avail. She took Gadget and her friend Jimmy to visit her home. As the children looked around what would be Gadget's room, Sally called Molotov, warning him that RoboCop had followed her. Gadget soon decided to live with Sally.[1]
As Gadget unpacked, Molotov's henchmen entered the house and took the mother and daughter to Molotov's warehouse to be held captive. When Gadget suspected Modesto of lying about everything – including being her mother – Modesto confirmed to her that this was the case, but promised to get her out. As RoboCop shot his way into the warehouse, Sally managed to subdue Nadia.[1]
After Gertrude reunited with Parks for good, Parks pulled Sally aside, showing her DNA test results which confirmed that Sally was Gadget's mother. She requested he not tell Gadget, preferring to wait until they were both ready. Gadget then assured Parks that Sally was a good person, so he offered to speak to the district attorney on her behalf, as she had been placed under arrest for her role in the scheme.[1]
