Vladimir "Stitch" Molotov was the head of the Russian Mafia active in Detroit.

Biography[]

Molotov bribed Mayor Fred Friendly and footage of him doing so was captured on camera by RoboCop. After Friendly was shown this evidence, he assured Stitch that ongoing protests against RoboCop would serve as a distraction and keep them from facing any trouble. Molotov planned to take care of RoboCop himself if he posed a problem to them.[1]

Molotov was active in illegal gambling, using a Boffo the Clown ice cream truck to operate this business. Molotov paid off Elliot "Pukey" Feldman to get him into a warehouse belonging to his primary competitor, Reggie Braga. He entered with his men and prepared to kill Braga, but they were interrupted by the vigilante Timothy Malloy and exchanged gunfire with him. After this event, Molotov and Braga decided to join forces, creating the largest crime syndicate in Detroit history.[2]

Twice more, Malloy tried to kill them, but RoboCop intervened both times. In the second, he brought backup and everyone was apprehended by the police.[2]

Molotov arranged to purchase a shipment of smuggled Russian caviar. For the exchange, he wore a Spyguard, which would scramble any electronic surveillance within a hundred yards. Despite this, when the exchange was revealed to be a sting operation led by Sergeant Stanley Parks, Parks assured that he would testify against Molotov at his trial. Molotov's driver Nadia then began firing a grenade launcher, allowing Molotov to run to the car. Nadia sped the car toward RoboCop, but it wrapped around the cyborg, who had anchored himself to the ground.[3]

To keep Parks from testifying, Molotov had his men go after Gadget, Parks' adopted daughter. When a kidnapping failed, resulting in his mens' arrests, Molotov recruited Pudface Morgan's goons Leo and Shorty. The pair soon discovered that Gadget's biological mother, a former associate of Molotov's. He recruited her into the plot, her role being to gain custody of the girl.[3]

When Sally successfully gained custody of her daughter, Molotov had them taken to his warehouse and he sent a message to Parks, saying that Gadget would be unharmed. RoboCop soon determined the location of the warehouse and Molotov boarded a forklift, repeatedly ramming it into the cyborg. RoboCop soon discovered the grenade launcher function on the car and used it to blow up the forklift, sending Molotov flying into a stack of contraband caviar. Molotov was then arrested alongside his henchmen.[3]

OCP executive Billy Sullivan arranged a meeting with Molotov and various other crime bosses. However, Molotov noticed he had been followed by RoboCop and had his men place the cyborg in a crusher. Afterward, they went inside, where everyone toasted Molotov for the supposed demise of RoboCop. Sullivan then showed them the Law Enforcement Agency Data Exchange Relay (L.E.A.D.E.R.), a database designed for use by all law enforcement agencies across the planet. For $5 million, he offered each of them the opportunity to erase all of their criminal records from the system. As Molotov prepared to pay up, RoboCop, having escaped the crusher, raided the warehouse, leading to the surrender of each crime boss. As police rounded them up, RoboCop told them that Sullivan was responsible for the raid, prompting Braga and the others to make threats toward him.[4]
